Position Description:

JOB TITLE:Purchasing Clerk

Position Summary:

Procures and expedites materials and services. Obtains quotes, generates and processes requisitions, and maintains related records.

Essential Functions:

  1. Review requisitions before ordering for completeness and accuracy.
  2. Researches all vendor sources to ensure best prices, availability and service.
  3. Maintain vendor performance logs.
  4. Determines freight requirements and requests correct method of shipment from vendors.
  5. Perform quality control as needed.
  6. Assigns, tracks, logs, references, faxes and finalizes purchase orders.
  7. Assists in computer tracking and processing purchase orders.
  8. Coordinates credit applications with vendors.
  9. Inventory control of stock items and transfer items.
  10. Maintain customer and vendor contacts on a regular basis.
  11. Assist Accounts Payable to resolve billing issues.
  12. Support requests from Accounts Payable.
  13. Works with Program Managers and technicians to verify purchasing requirements and timelines.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Marginal Functions:
  1. Provide assistance with coworkers performing research for purchases, organizing and purchasing items for company sponsored events.
  2. Assists in special projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Five (5) years purchasing experience.
  3. Inventory control experience.
  4. Able to work in excess of 40 hours per week with varied work shifts.
  5. Must possess a current Nevada Driver's License.
  6. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  7. Must be computer literate.
  8. Basic math skills required.
  9. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, expressing ideas clearly and actively listening to thoughts and ideas of others.
  10. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  11. Must be professional and personable and able to relate well with employees at all levels.
  12. Must have excellent organization and time management skills.
  13. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and rapidly changing business conditions.

Work Conditions:
  1. This position is typically performed in an office environment.
  2. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
